Body Building for Fine Hair

Every time one of your favorite magazines hits your mail box, you can bet someone with fabulous hair that's full of body will be splashed across the cover.  Sure they may have perfect looking locks.  Or at least perfect looking enough to make you green with envy.  But do you have the time or money to have your mane looked after by a professional stylist every morning?  Kinda doubtful.

Lucky for you there are things those looking to boost the body of their hair can do.  That work even if you have to work for a living and don't have time for lots of styling time in the morning.  Even better they don't cost a fortune and  may even work as advertised.

Body challenged fine hair especially can often benefit from some body building techniques. Because it is by nature the weaker strand. Smallest of the three types of hair it often lacks the body you crave.  And if you can't build the body you at least want to avoid self-inflicted damage.

AVOID Damage: You can't have full hair if you're always losing it.  Besides damaged hair just doesn't glisten in the sun as you'd like.  This is why you want to take care to be gentle with your hair.  Even the little things count when looking to do that.  Such as using a wide toothed comb. Seamless would even be better.  And remember never to use a comb on wet hair.  Such acts have been red flagged by your stylist as bad for your locks.

BUILD Body:  What kind of shampoo do you use? Is it mild? Is it formulated to do a variety of wonderful things for your hair?  You know clean it, add moisture, somehow plump up your strands through some kind of chemical wizardry all without bogging them down? Such volumizing wonders formulated special for hairstyles for fine hair do exist you know. The primary selling point of such mane cleansing products is how effortlessly they add body to hair.  Just be warned that it just may take you time to find the best one for your hair.

AVOID Damage: Are you taking a minimalist approach when it comes to hot styling tools? Knowing that any kind of heat will be hard on your hair type to begin with. And if you over do it your just increasing the odds of split ends, flyaways and frizz.  And does that even sound remotely close to fabulous fuller hair loaded with body?

BUILD Body: Well at least the illusion of body.  Do that by having your stylist add in volume pumping layers.  It's a less is more approach to building in more body.  Works especially well for finer hair.  Keeping in mind that fine hair looks best when it's kept to chin to shoulder grazing long.

TIP:  Remember that to get bouncy hair that's full of life the trick is to volumize the roots.  That's where the volume action is, so to speak.  So the idea is to focus your product of choice close to the scalp and then let it do its thing. Leaving you with plenty of hair to flick around when the mood strikes.

AVOID Damage: Wearing excessively tight braids or your hair back into a pony tail in the same spot can be hard on your strands.  This can result in excessive breakage.  And even the partial loss of strandage like this makes it hard to keep up the illusion of thicker, fuller hair.

BUILD Body: This time through chemistry.  Using a thickening shampoo and conditioner is a way to cheat and effortlessly add volume.  Stand the roots up (and thus build in the volume) by using a hair powder.  Or get yourself a thickening serum that you apply at bedtime.  The best actually swell the hair shafts themselves which plumps up each so that when you wake up they actually look thicker.

TIP: Okay so it's styling aids to the rescue here.  Just remember that product build up can weigh your struggling fine strands down which kind of defeats the purpose behind those products.  So to reverse that, make use of your favorite build up removing shampoo to undo what you've done to your 'do.  Finish by applying a lightweight conditioner to the tips.

AVOID Damage:  We both know shimmering hair is healthy hair.  Protecting it from the damaging effects of sunlight is vitally important since excessive exposure to UV rays can cause dull lifeless locks.  Which look anything but full and shimmering.

Okay so infusing fine hair with body can be a bit of a chore admittedly.  Yet even simple things like these can help to make your tresses lighter and full of life with extra body to burn. Yes, Virginia, there are truly body builders for fine locks. Just make sure you are not sabotaging their effect by doing things that can damage your precious tresses while trying to build them up.
