Getting To The Root Of Problem Hair

Is your hair a bit of a problem child?

Are issues with your hair sinking any hopes of having sexy and gorgeous tresses faster than the Titanic?

Has the hair of your dreams turned into your worst nightmare?

The good news is you don't have to spend the equivalent of a small country's GDP to overcome most tress distresses.  Let's quickly look at five bedeviling problems and explain how you can get your head together again.

Dandruff

Is there any greater turnoff than dandruff?   Not to mention how embarrassing it can be?  Problem is it's a symptom of the problem, not the problem itself.  A fact many don't realize.  Because these flakes are caused by a fungus.  For those keeping track Malassezia globosa to be specific.  Which is actually more of a yeast the lives off the oils on your scalp.  Great life isn't it? If you choose not to go with one of the popular dandruff shampoos on the market you could always try to cure this using a cider vinegar rinse.  Seems that changes the pH of your scalp making it inhospitable for the little buggers.  In essence telling them to flake off!

Lost Hair

Right up there with any flaking on any undesirable list of hair problems is hair loss itself.  Which is more common than you might think.  Surprisingly maybe as many as one out of every 10 women suffer from this problem to some degree or another.  Losing hair kinda puts the whole hair care problem thing into perspective, doesn't it?  I mean those losing their hair, would be thrilled to have flat, limp or greasy hair as long as it was real hair.  While you may be a walking the same path as those other unfortunates wondering why, it's likely a heredity thing.  Although bad diet, certain meds, even childbirth can be contributors to this problem.  At least in the short run.  In the long run it's nothing short of heartbreaking.

Fried Hair

With our ongoing love affair with over processing and hot styling tools a damaged mane should come as no surprise either.  So much so many of us suffer from dry hair, that tends to break off or be loaded with split ends.  Here prevention is way better than cure.  Like with splits.  There is no patch kit you can buy that will repair them.  You're much better off preventing them by using conditioner to help you detangle.  Or getting a regular trim to eliminate them from the landscape all together.  Of course conditioning can help hide them for the time being.  But that will not heal them.  Yet if it works for tonight, who cares?  Longer term some hair dressers might suggest applying a glaze to strengthen the cuticle some.  I'm just not convinced if that's good advice or not.

Flat Hair

Limp. Lifeless.  Lacking volume.  As energized as a dead battery.  What gives?  A couple of things actually.  You might have product buildup weighing your locks down.  Which calls for a clarifying shampoo.   Or you may be going heavy on conditioners which likewise might be weighing your hair down.  If that's the case, just stop it!

Combination Hair

This is the final hair scourge we'll look at here.  This is where you've got a greasy scalp and then extreme dryness towards the ends.  How to treat this can be a stumper.  But many find good success by remembering to only shampoo the hair nearest the scalp and then conditioning the hair ear high on down. Only do this in reverse order.  Condition below.  Wait a few. Then massage in the shampoo the scalp.  Finally rinse it all down the drain.  Also try laying off the styling products in the scalp area too.   All this works to minimize the oil slick that has taken up residence on top.  While quenching the parched strands further on down.  By the way, what you do here is way more important than the products you use to do it.  Which could be a hair care secret your stylist forgot to mention.

We've all got problem hair to some extent.  No one has perfect hair even though it may look like they do.  What separates us then is knowing what to do when the problems strike.  Hopefully this sheds some light on these five issues at least.
